Monday night was a wild night in the NBA Playoffs with the San Antonio Spurs losing, the Mavs winning, and the Nuggets coming back from the dead to finally win a match.
The second round of the Western Conference playoffs continues to be quite murky, and we may have quite numerous lower seed advancing. Let’s have a look at the matches from last night’s NBA action.
In the 1st competition of the evening, the Spurs were keeping a lid on the Grizzlies for the 1st half of the competition. But then after halftime, the Grizzlies came out and scored more than the San Antonio Spurs 30-15 and went on to win the game 104-86. The San Antonio Spurs are now one competition away from being eliminated by the eighth seed. If the Grizzlies can pull off one more win, they will become merely the fourth No. 8 squad in NBA history to knock off the No. 1 seed.
The second competition of the night featured the Dallas Mavericks taking out the Trailblazers in one more hard-fought fight, winning 93-82. Everyone anticipated this to be a tough series for either squad, and it is turning out that way. Dallas is now up 3 matches to 2, and came back from their fourth-quarter meltdown in Game Four. The Blazers will be seeking to avoid elimination or at least push the series to a deciding Game Seven.
Finally, the Nuggets got a victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder, going 104-101. The Nuggets are still down 3 matches to one, but at least averted the sweep. Can they become the 1st squad ever to fight back from a 3-0 deficit? Probably not. But if they start hitting their shots greater, and making their free throws, they’ve got a good prospects for prolonging this series. And to think – the Nuggets were one time supposed to eliminate the Oklahoma City Thunder from the playoffs.
It seems like the lowest seed – the OKC Oklahoma City Thunder – are having the easiest time of it in the 1st round of the playoffs. The Dallas Mavericks are up 3-2 over the Trail Blazers, and everybody anticipated this series to go on for some time. But what is happening to the San Antonio Spurs, losing 3 matches to a squad that until this year had not won a single playoff competition in its team history?
